Midnight Sands©

Upon the moonlit sands I walked 
and Angels and Devils walked with me in council

 They whispered in my ears and told me truths
 They whispered in my ears and told me lies...

And for a time I could tell none apart,
for the truth was a lie and the lies held the only truth
And upon the endless sand at night 
I found that I was lacking something
God had made one half of a beautiful coin...
and upon that midnight sand I searched for my other half
The Angels led me one way and the Devils led me another..
and neither held my other half...

I walked upon the midnight sands for eternity 
searching for my other half,
my other soul, my true one...
Over mountain like dunes of sand
Through deep valleys I searched....and yet I found nothing...
After an eternity of looking my legs grew tired 
and my feet were blistered...
and I fell to my knees pleading to God to help me...

I raised my arms and cried to heaven for help, 
but the sky was silent
The stars were bright and sharp 
and the moon hung white and heavy in the sky
And as the tears poured down my face 
I saw what I was searching for...
My other half...my soul partner..my love...
the pain I felt had freed me from the midnight desert 
to the ocean of her love..and I was free...
