A Whisper On The Wind©
by Joalla K (9-20-97)
and once again she rides the night winds
alone, so very alone
a longing
a want
a whisper in the dark
a wish
a desire
a reaching from the heart
she looks
and searches
does she ask for too much
to touch and be touched
she loves and knows love
but from afar
never to hold
never to see
never to be held
or be seen
is this her lot in life
to please yet never be pleased
to give all she is
looking back on emptiness once done
if this is the way
then it is a living hell
and she must ask
what she has done to be punished so
is this her lot in life
is this to be her eternal hell
going full circle
to live it over the same again
perhaps all would be better served
if she was no more
no more
but a whisper on the wind
and what of those who love her
what of those who need her
even from afar
she holds them in her heart
she carries their woes and joys
perhaps this is her lot in life
not an eternal hell
but one of love and giving love
one of understanding
one of deeply caring
if even from afar
so a smile and warmth embrace her heart
and she knows and accepts
what she is to be
to be
but a whisper on the wind
