The night is long, dark and cold,
But I hold close to my heart thoughts of old.
Thoughts that they have tried to take from me,
Thoughts that have helped me to remain free.

The night is long, forever dark,
Yet my thoughts of you are like a spark.
A spark of light in this dreary night,
A spark that keeps me from taking flight.

The night is cold and oh so long,

Take me from this cursed life,
